Huawei MatePad 11 (2023 Edition) With Optional Paper-Like Display Unveiled
Huawei took the wraps of the refreshed and changed Huawei MatePad 11 (2023 edition) in China today, where they will start launching this tablet on March 30th for the equivalent of $350.
What makes the new Huawei MatePad 11 2023 Edition stand out the most is the first optional paper-like display on this otherwise ordinary tablet, where the outer layers of the display have a more matte finish instead of the more glossy display, as well as a slightly softer and higher friction touch to make the screen feel more like paper if you use a stylus pen on it as well as attempting to reduce fatigue for the eyes. Hence it is the first tablet that's received a SGS Premium Performance low visual fatigue and low blue light a certification.
This model is called the Huawei MatePad 11 2023 Soft Edition. But this 11-inch screen is still an otherwise ordinary TFT LCD touchscreen with a 2560 x 1600 display resolution and even a 120Hz refresh rate.
So this could lead to a new line of tablets from other brands too, if this type of paper-like display based on an ordinary LCD screen catches on.
The stylus for it is the Huawei M-Pencil 2nd generation which has been around for some time now.
But a Huawei MatePad 11 2023 Edition with a regular screen will still be available. The difference between them is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 CPU for the Soft Edition, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 CPU for the regular 2023 Edition. RAM options are between 6GB and 8GB, while the storage options are 128GB or 256GB.
In other areas the new Huawei MatePad 11 runs the HarmonyOS 3.1 OS, which has been installed on just under 350 million devices as of March 2023. So it has grown into a significant OS.
And in keeping with the Huawei tradition, it has a 13MP rear camera with LED, an 8MP front camera, 4 speakers with Histen 8.0 audio, dual mics, Wi-Fi 6, BT 5.1, USB C (2.0), a 7250 mAh battery with a 12 hour battery life and 2.25A super fast charging, and tablet sensors such as ambient light sensor, gravity sensor, hall sensor, and color temperature sensor
The tablets will be launched with the color options black, white, blue, and pink, and is quite mobile with a thickness of just 7.2mm and a low weight of 480 grams.
Optional extras includes a folio cover, a keyboard, and the M-Pencil.
When we can expect a launch outside of China was not announced today, but we'll update once we know more about that.
