The Lap Dock is a novelty. It's not actually a tablet, even though it looks just like a 2-in-1 tablet at first. But on the inside, there's no computer. The display and the keyboard is just that – a display and a keyboard.
The actual computer is the HP Elite x3 Windows 10 Mobile smartphone that connects wirelessly to the HP Elite x3 Lap Dock.
The Lap Dock consists of a 12.5-inch screen with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution display, Bang & Olufsen speakers just like on the phone itself, as much as three USB Type-C ports, one micro-HDMI port, and a 3.5 mm audio combo jack.
The keyboard is a spill-resistant backlit keyboard with touchpad, and it carries its own 46.5 WHr battery inside.
The Lap Dock can be connected either wirelessly with for instance Miracast or by USB cable between the phone and the dock.
The HP Elite x3 phone is a waterproof 5.96-inch 4G smartphone with 2560 x 1440 resolution display, 4GB of RAM, a 2.15 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, fingerprint reader, 8MP and 16MP cameras, a 4150 mAh battery, and complete Wi-Fi cover.
