How to Use Ghost Mode on Snapchat and Protect Your Location Privacy
Are you concerned about your location privacy and which apps have access to them? Well, the answer is a lot of them, and one of them is Snapchat. While it's fun to share your location with friends and followers via the Snap Map, there are times when it feels like an invasion of privacy. If you're looking to protect your location information, you can use ghost mode on Snapchat. Here's how you can enable and use ghost mode on Snapchat.
Ghost Mode on Snapchat
Ghost Mode is a privacy feature on Snapchat that prevents others from knowing your location, including your friends. It completely disassociates your location from Snapchat, ensuring that nobody can track where you went or where you are now.
Enable Ghost Mode for Everyone
- Open Snapchat on your iPhone or Android and tap on the profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Go to settings by tapping on the cog icon in the top-right corner of the profile page.
- Scroll down on the Settings page and look for “See My Location” in the Privacy Control section. Tap on it.
- By default, the location visibility is set to “My Friends,” meaning all your friends on Snapchat can view your location along with where you go next. Tap on “Ghost Mode” to enable it on Snapchat.
- From here, you can choose to enable ghost mode temporarily, say for 3 hours or 24 hours. After this time has passed, ghost mode will be disabled automatically, and all your friends will be able to view your location.
- Alternatively, you can also change your location settings from the Snap Map.
Once you enable ghost mode, none of your friends on Snapchat will be able to see your bitmoji on Snap Map, nor will they see your location in the chats or anywhere else on the platform.
Turn on Location for Selected Friends
For situations where you want to share your location with everyone but not with a few select friends, you can use the “My Friends, Except…” option in the location settings. Simply select the friends with whom you don't want to share your location, and they won't be able to see it. Alternatively, if you have a special friend whom you want to share your location with, you can use the “Only These Friends…” option and select that special friend from the list.
