Muting someone on Instagram can have two meanings: you won't see their posts or stories in your feed, and you won't be notified about their messages. Instagram doesn't notify the other person when you mute them, but if you decide to remove someone from the mute list, here's how to unmute them on Instagram.

How to Unmute Posts on Instagram

To unmute someone's posts on Instagram, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the person's profile in the Instagram app.
  2. Tap on the “Following” button.
  3. Choose “Mute” from the menu and turn off the toggle for “Posts” to unmute their posts.

How to Unmute Stories on Instagram

Unmuting stories is similar to unmuting posts on Instagram. Open the person's profile, tap the “Following” button, and select “Mute.” Turn off the toggle next to “Stories” to unmute their stories.
