How to Set Custom Ringtone for Your Favorite Contacts on Samsung Galaxy Phones

Use the Contacts App on Galaxy Phones

To begin, let's assign different ringtones and vibration patterns to your frequent contacts using the Phone app. You can even set a custom vibration pattern for your favorite contacts. Follow these steps to make the necessary changes:

  1. Open the Phone app on your Samsung phone.
  2. Go to the Contacts tab.
  3. You'll find your favorite contacts at the top or you can select a specific contact from the list below.
  4. Tap on a contact and click the “i” button.
  5. Tap the More menu in the bottom-right corner and select “Change ringtone/vibration.”
  6. Choose “Ringtone” to open the default Ringtones menu.
  7. Select the ringtone you want to set for the contact by tapping the radio button next to it. You can also tap “+” at the top to open the Sound Picker menu, which displays all the songs and audio clips available on your phone.
  8. If you wish, you can select a specific song or stick to the default collection only.
  9. Go back and tap the More menu again, then go to “Change ringtone/vibration > Call vibration.”
  10. You can either set the vibration to sync with the ringtone or choose a specific vibration pattern from the same list.

Check the assigned ringtone and vibration for your favorite contact. Repeat the same steps for all your preferred contacts. However, it's best not to assign different ringtones for too many contacts.

You can assign custom tones and vibrations to your parents, loved ones, business partners, and kids. This way, when your phone rings or vibrates, you'll quickly know whose call it is. You can also use third-party apps or ringtone makers for Android.

Set Custom Ringtone for Your Loved Ones on WhatsApp

Voice and video calls on third-party instant messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram are becoming increasingly popular. If you frequently receive WhatsApp calls, you can assign a specific ringtone for your loved ones on the platform as well. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Launch WhatsApp on your phone.
  2. Select a contact and tap the contact name at the top to open the contact info menu.
  3. Scroll down to “Custom notifications.”
  4. Enable the “Use custom notifications” toggle.
  5. Select “Ringtone” under “Call notifications” to open the Ringtone menu.
  6. Choose a different sound as your WhatsApp ringtone for the contact.
  7. You can also select the “Vibrate” menu and assign a short or long pattern for WhatsApp calls.

Follow the same steps for your frequently-used WhatsApp contacts, and you're good to go.

Set a Custom Ringtone for Your Loved Ones on Telegram

Telegram is a popular alternative to WhatsApp, especially among power users. If you prefer using Telegram to stay in touch with loved ones, you can set a custom ringtone for them as well. Here's how:

  1. Open Telegram and select a conversation.
  2. Tap the contact name at the top, then open “Notifications.”
  3. Tap “Customize.”
  4. Select “Ringtone” under “Calls” and choose a different tone for your contact.
  5. Go back and select “Vibrate.”
  6. Set a short, long, or default pattern.

Repeat these steps for your other Telegram contacts and make an educated guess when their calls arrive on your phone.

Avoid Unnecessary Callers

By setting custom ringtones for specific contacts on your Samsung phone, you can easily ignore irrelevant calls during work or study hours. This feature also ensures that you don't miss important calls from your loved ones.
