How to Easily Share Apps Between iPhone and Android Phones

If you have ever wanted to share an app with someone or transfer apps to your new phone, you may have wondered how to do it. Fortunately, there are several ways to easily share apps between different phones. Whether you have an iPhone or Android phone, we will guide you on how to send apps from your device to another phone.

Share Apps Between iPhone and iPhone

Sharing apps between iPhones is a simple process that can be done in three ways:

1. By Sharing the App Link

You can easily share the link to an iPhone app with anyone, whether they are next to you or far away. Once they receive the app link, they can tap on it to open it in the App Store and install the app on their own iPhone.

To share the link to an app from your home screen:

  1. Long press the app on the home screen or in the app library.
  2. Select “Share App” from the menu.
  3. Choose an app like WhatsApp or email to send the link to your friend.

Alternatively, you can find the link to an iPhone app from the App Store:

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on your profile picture icon at the top to go to the Account screen. Then, tap on “Purchased.”
  3. Search for the app you want to share and tap on it.
  4. Tap on the “Share” icon on the app screen and select the app or contact you want to share the app link with.

2. Using AirDrop

If you want to share an iPhone app with someone nearby, you can use the AirDrop feature. Make sure your friend has AirDrop enabled on their phone, then follow these steps:

  1. On the receiver's phone, go to Settings > General > AirDrop and enable AirDrop.
  2. On your iPhone, long press the app icon on the home screen or in the App Library and select “Share app.”
  3. Choose “AirDrop” in the share sheet and select the receiver's iPhone.
  4. The receiver's iPhone will show a pop-up. Select “View” to open the app in the App Store and download it.

3. Send Apps from Old to New iPhone

If you have purchased a new iPhone, you can easily transfer all your data, including apps, from your old iPhone to the new one using the Quick Start feature. Just make sure you are on the setup screen of your new iPhone. If you have already set up your new iPhone, you will need to factory reset it to reach the setup screen.

Once on the setup screen, bring your old iPhone closer to the new one. A pop-up will appear on the old iPhone, suggesting to set up the new iPhone. Tap on “Continue” and follow the on-screen instructions to transfer apps and other data to your new iPhone.

Share Apps Between Android Phones

Sharing apps between Android phones can be done using Nearby Share, an app link, or while transferring data to a new phone.

1. Using Nearby Share in Play Store

If someone is nearby, you can easily share an Android app with them using the Nearby Share feature in the Play Store. Here's how:

  1. Launch the Play Store on your Android phone.
  2. Tap on the profile picture icon at the top and go to “Manage apps & devices.”
  3. Tap on “Send” next to “Share apps.”
  4. Follow steps 1-3 on the receiver's phone, but select “Receive” instead of “Send” in step 3.
  5. On the sender's phone, select the apps you want to send and tap on the “Send” button.
  6. The receiver's phone will appear on your phone. Select it.
  7. Tap on “Receive” on the receiver's phone and press the “Install” button when the app arrives.

2. Using App Link

If someone is far away or Nearby Share isn't working, you can share the link to the app with them.

  1. Open the Play Store on your Android phone.
  2. Search for the app you want to share and tap on its name.
  3. Tap the three-dot icon at the top and select “Share” from the menu.
  4. Choose the app or contact to whom you want to send the app.

3. Send Apps from Old Android Phone to New Phone

Just like with iPhones, you can easily transfer all data, including apps, from your old Android phone to your new phone during the setup process. The methods may vary depending on the Android phones you are using. Some phones, like Samsung, have their own apps for transferring data between old and new Android phones, while stock Android uses the Google app.

When setting up your new Android phone, select “Yes” when asked if you want to copy data from an old phone. Follow the on-screen instructions to transfer apps and other data to the new phone.

How to Send Apps from iOS to Android or Vice Versa

If you want to send an app from your Android phone to a friend's iPhone or vice versa, unfortunately, there is no native way to do it. Your friend will have to search for the app manually in their phone's app store.

However, if you are switching from iOS to Android or vice versa, you can transfer your data, including some apps, during the setup process. Use the Move to iOS app to transfer data from Android to iPhone, or follow the instructions provided by Android to switch from iPhone to Android. Connect both devices wirelessly or using Wi-Fi and follow the on-screen instructions.

By following these methods, you can easily share apps between different phones, whether they are iPhones or Android devices.
