How to Easily Download Instagram Videos on iPhone?
Instagram is a goldmine of video content, from standard videos and IGTV to Stories and Reels. Unfortunately, the app doesn't provide a built-in option to download these videos. But fret not! In this article, I'll show you three simple methods to download Instagram videos on your iPhone.
Method 1: Download Instagram Videos with Siri Shortcuts
Thanks to the Instagram Media Saver Siri shortcut, created by user @mvan231, you can effortlessly download any Instagram video to your iPhone. This shortcut supports video posts, Stories, IGTV, and even Reels, as long as the creator's account is public. Now there's no need to wonder why you can't save Instagram story to gallery.
To get started, download and install the Shortcut to your iPhone using this iCloud or Routinehub link. Once installed, open the Instagram app and navigate to the video you want to download. Tap the Options button in the top right corner of the video, then select “Share to…” to open the Share Sheet. Scroll down to find Instagram Media Saver and tap the icon to run the shortcut. It will extract the media associated with the URL and present a few different files for download. Simply select the option with a timestamp and tap Done. Your Instagram video will be downloaded and saved to the Photos app.
Pros:
- Download Stories, Posts, Reels, and IGTV with just a tap
- Allows you to download thumbnails and pictures as well
Cons:
- Only works with public posts
Method 2: Use a Third-Party App
Repost: For Instagram is one of the most popular apps for downloading Instagram pictures and videos. Unlike the Siri Shortcut method, Repost allows you to save videos from both public and private accounts that you follow. However, you'll need to enter your login credentials within the app to access private posts.
To begin, open the Instagram app and go to the video you want to download. Tap the Options button in the top right corner of the video, then select “Copy link.” Next, open the Repost app, and your post will be automatically discovered. Tap the thumbnail to open the Share Sheet, then tap “Save Video” to download the Instagram video to your Photos app. If you're downloading private posts, the app will prompt you to enter your login credentials. This step is required only once.
Pros:
- Archive of all the videos you've downloaded
- Download multiple posts
- Works with Posts, Stories, Reels, and IGTV
- Allows you to download videos from private accounts you follow
Cons:
- None
Method 3: Use Safari
If you prefer a one-off method without installing apps or using shortcuts, you can use Safari to download Instagram videos. Downloadgram.com is a website that allows you to download photos, videos, and IGTV videos from Instagram.
To use this method, open Safari on your iPhone and visit downloadgram.com. Paste the URL of the Instagram post in the Input field on the page, then tap Download. The website will fetch the video details and present a Download Video button. Long press the Download Video button to invoke the Peek Menu, then tap “Download Linked File.” The video will start downloading in the browser's Download manager. Once the download is complete, tap the Downloads button on the top right corner and open the downloaded video. If you want to save the video to the Photos app, tap the Share button on the bottom left and select “Save Video.”
Pros:
- No installation required
- Allows you to download Posts, Videos, and IGTV
Cons:
- Doesn't work with private accounts
- Doesn't work with Reels
In conclusion, these three methods provide simple ways to download Instagram videos on your iPhone. While all three methods work well for public accounts, only the Repost app allows you to download videos from private accounts. Give these methods a try and enjoy your favorite Instagram videos anytime, anywhere!
