How to Easily Access Your Instagram Comment History
Imagine this scenario: you're casually scrolling through your Instagram feed late at night, and you leave a comment on someone's post. But the next morning, you realize you want to either edit or remove that comment. The problem is, you can't remember which profile or username you commented on. Frustrating, right? Well, fear not! In this article, we will show you not just one, but three methods to help you easily access and manage all the comments you've made on Instagram.
Method 1: Using Your Activity
The first method involves using the built-in “Your activity” feature on Instagram. This feature allows you to view and delete your old comments effortlessly. Here's how to do it:
- Open the Instagram app and go to your profile.
- Tap on the three horizontal lines at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select “Your activity.”
- Navigate to “Interactions” and then tap on “Comments.”
- You will now see a list of all your comments, with the most recent ones at the top. To view older comments first, tap on “Sort & filter” and choose “Oldest to newest” under “Sort by.” You can also set start and end dates to filter the comments. Once done, click on “Apply.”
- To delete multiple comments, tap on “Select” and choose the comments you want to delete. Finally, tap on “Delete.”
Method 2: Checking Liked Posts
If you can't find your comments using the first method, don't worry! Instagram also provides a feature to check the posts you've liked, which can help you locate your previous comments. Here's what you need to do:
- Launch the Instagram app and go to your profile.
- Tap on the three-bar icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
- Go to “Your activity” and then tap on “Interactions” followed by “Likes.”
- Here, you will find all the posts you have liked. Scroll through and find the post on which you might have commented. If the post has thousands of comments, refer to the steps mentioned at the end of the post to locate your specific comment.
Method 3: Downloading Your Instagram Data
If the previous methods didn't yield the desired results, you can resort to downloading your Instagram data. This method allows you to access all your past messages, comments, settings, and more. Here's how you can do it:
- Open the Instagram mobile app and go to “Settings.”
- Navigate to “Security” and tap on “Download data.”
- If you don't see the “Download data” option under “Security,” tap on the three-bar icon on your profile, go to “Your activity,” and then select “Download your information.”
- Enter your email address (if not already filled) and tap on “Request Download.” Provide your Instagram password when prompted. You will receive a confirmation screen stating that your data will be sent to your email shortly.
- Wait for the Instagram data to arrive in your email. Once you receive the email, open it and click on “Download information.”
- Download the file to your computer or mobile device. The downloaded file will be in Zip format. Extract the files using any Zip extractor tool.
- Inside the extracted folder, you will find various files and folders. Open the “Comments” folder.
- Within the “Comments” folder, you will find the “post_comments” file in either HTML or JSON format.
- If the file is in HTML format, simply open it in any web browser to view all your past comments, along with the usernames and timestamps.
- If the file is in JSON format, you can convert it to a human-readable format using online tools or viewers such as jsonviewer.stack.hu or JSON to CSV converters.
That's it! These three methods should help you easily access and manage all the comments you've made on Instagram. Whether you want to edit, delete, or simply reminisce about your past comments, now you have the tools to do so. Happy Instagramming!
