How to Create a Stunning Calendar in Google Sheets
Using Google Sheets, you can easily create a monthly schedule or content calendar and share it with team members. Whether you want to create a calendar from scratch or use ready-to-use templates, Google Sheets offers excellent collaboration tools to make the process seamless. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to create a beautiful calendar in Google Sheets.
Create a Calendar in Google Sheets
First, let's explore how to create a calendar from a blank spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Alternatively, you can also use ready-to-use Sheets calendar templates to create a monthly plan on the go.
Make a Calendar in Google Sheets
To begin, open your preferred web browser on your desktop and type “sheets.new” in the address bar. This will open a new Google Sheets document.
Next, choose your desired month, such as May 2022, and type the month name and year in the first cell. Then, select the first cell from column A to G and click on the “Merge cells” icon at the top to merge them together.
Now, you can customize the month and year by increasing the text size, adding bold effects, and changing the color to make it visually appealing.
To fill in the days of the week, type “=TEXT(1, “DDDD”)” in a cell where you want to start the weekday for the month. Replace “1” in the formula with “COLUMN()” and press Enter. Drag the selector from column A to G and hit Enter again to display the weekdays at the top.
You can manually fill in the cells with the respective day numbers or use the formula “=first cell+1” to automatically populate the rest of the week's cells. Repeat this process for each row and ensure you end the month with the correct number of days.
Format Calendar in Google Sheets
To format your calendar in Google Sheets, you can manually change text size and cell colors or utilize the built-in formatting tools.
Once you have created your calendar, select “Format” in the menu bar. Then, choose “Alternating colors” to open a side menu where you can change the spreadsheet's look. Select the range you want to apply the formatting to and choose one of the default themes from the menu. You can also customize the header color and alternate cell colors according to your preference.
To enhance differentiation, apply the bold effect to the day numbers.
Duplicate Monthly Calendar
If you want to create calendars for the rest of the year without repeating the entire process, you can duplicate the current calendar and make the necessary changes. Simply click on “Sheet 2” at the bottom, select “Duplicate,” and keep the first day in mind. Use the formula to automatically fill up the other cells.
Use Google Sheets Calendar Templates
If creating a calendar from scratch seems overwhelming, you can browse through the best Google Sheets calendar templates. These templates offer various designs and layouts. Simply copy the template to your Google Drive account and customize it to suit your needs.
Create a Schedule in Google Sheets
For more formatting options to customize the calendar's look, you can download the Table Styles add-on. This add-on provides colorful avatars that you can apply with a single click.
With these steps, you can easily create a stunning calendar in Google Sheets and effectively manage your schedule or content plan.
