How to Conduct Live Polls in Zoom Meetings for Free
Group polls in Zoom are only available to licensed users. However, with the help of third-party websites, you can still conduct live polls within Zoom. These polls allow you to monitor responses in real-time during the meeting. Here's how you can set it up.
Conducting Polls in Zoom for Free
Instead of downloading a third-party app from the Zoom App marketplace, you can utilize a free polling app or a website like Sli.do, Poll Everywhere, or Swift Poll. Among these options, Swift Polls is recommended as it provides unlimited questions and allows a maximum voting size of 150.
To create a poll, register and log in to the Swift Polling site. Once logged in, you will see the web dashboard. On the left side, click on the “Create” option under Interactive poll to create a new poll. Choose MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) to set multiple options for the poll. Fill in the question and add multiple options by clicking on the “Add option” button. When you're done, click on the “Save Poll” button at the bottom.
Next, go to the Active Poll section and click on the “Start” button to activate the poll. Once activated, you can click on the three dots beside the Present button and share the poll's web URL in the Zoom meeting. To view the live results, click on the “Present” button, and it will open the poll in a new tab.
The poll on the web will look like the following. You can share the link or screen share the results in the meeting. Once the voting is finished, click the Stop button under the Active Poll section to end the poll.
The process to create and activate a poll is similar on other polling platforms like Sli.do and Poll Anywhere. If you have any further questions or issues regarding Zoom, feel free to ask in the comments section.
