How to Jailbreak iPad Mini: A Comprehensive Guide
Jailbreaking an iPad Mini allows you to enhance the capabilities of your device by installing apps, extensions, and themes not approved by Apple. However, this process comes with risks like voiding your warranty.
This guide will show you how to jailbreak iPad Mini models running iOS 9.3.5 or earlier without a computer using the Phoenix jailbreak tool.
Gather Your Materials

You will need:
- An iPad Mini model with iOS version 9.3.5 or earlier
- The latest version of the Phoenix jailbreaking IPA file
- A stable internet connection
Check Your iOS Version
Determine if your iPad Mini's software can be jailbroken:
- Open the Settings app
- Tap General > About
- View the number beside Version
If your version predates iOS 9.3.6, your device meets the requirements.
Back Up Your iPad Mini
To prevent data loss, back up your iPad Mini before beginning. You can back up wirelessly through iCloud or via a computer with iTunes.
Download and Install the Phoenix IPA
- Use Safari to visit the Phoenix website
- Tap the IPA download link
- When the file finishes downloading, open Settings > Profile Downloaded
- Tap on the Phoenix app profile
- Tap Install
Launch Phoenix and Jailbreak Your Device
- Locate and launch the Phoenix icon from your Home screen
- Read and accept the terms and conditions
- Tap Prepare for Jailbreak then tap Proceed
- Allow the Phoenix app to download the jailbreak data
- When prompted, tap Install
- Your iPad Mini will reboot and finish the jailbreak process
The Phoenix app will add the Cydia app store to your Home screen. Launch Cydia to browse and install jailbreak tweaks.
Re-open Phoenix to re-jailbreak your device after rebooting or if Cydia disappears.
With this straightforward, no-computer method, you can unlock extra functionality on your older iPad Mini model.
