How to Use Google Password Manager on iPhone?

Learn how to configure Google Chrome as a password storage tool on your iPhone, enabling automatic entry of saved login details across various iOS applications and websites.

Apple offers a built-in credential management system, such as iCloud Keychain or the Passwords app, to securely retain account details across Apple devices, Chrome, and Windows.

On the other hand, Android and Chrome utilize Google’s password-saving feature as the default method for storing login information.

If you’ve recently moved from Android to iPhone or frequently switch between Chrome on Mac and Safari on iPhone, accessing stored passwords in Chrome each time can be inconvenient.

A better solution is to designate Chrome as the primary password manager on your iPhone, allowing seamless autofill for Safari, iOS applications, and other platforms—working much like Apple’s native password-saving options.

How to Automatically Enter Stored Credentials in Chrome on an iPhone?

After completing the outlined steps, entering stored passwords on iPhone apps and websites is just as effortless as utilizing native or external password managers.

  1. Launch the authentication portal for an online platform or application using any web-browsing tool such as Apple's default browser, Google's browsing software, or Mozilla’s internet navigator.
  2. Press the “Stored Access Details” button on the mobile device’s virtual keypad. Tap the small directional symbol or the lock emblem if it isn't visible. If Apple's credential storage tool appears at the bottom, choose the key-shaped icon on the lower-right side.
  3. Opt for Google’s browsing software and confirm authorization using facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, or the device’s secret code.
  4. Retrieve the saved access credentials for the chosen platform, enabling Google’s browser to populate the login fields automatically. You may also navigate through stored entries or utilize the search tool to locate a particular record.

Key Points to Remember

  • You can manage your passwords using both Google Chrome’s built-in storage system and Apple’s default password manager at the same time. Enabling up to three different password management tools allows the automatic filling of login details.

  • I find this especially helpful since I store over 200 credentials in Apple’s system and around 30 in Chrome, making accessing them across multiple devices easy.

  • Logging out of Chrome prevents access to saved passwords within the browser. Likewise, uninstalling the Chrome application removes stored credentials, making them unavailable.

  • Ensure the web browser is running the most recent update.

  • Confirm that you're using the correct account linked to your saved credentials. Sign out and re-enter with the appropriate profile, mainly if used on other gadgets.

  • Restart your Apple device to refresh its operations.

  • If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the browser, then follow the previous steps again.
