9 Easy Ways to Scan QR Codes on Samsung Galaxy Phones

If you own a Samsung Galaxy phone and have been wondering how to scan QR codes, you're in the right place. QR codes, also known as Quick Response codes, are a convenient way to access hidden information such as website links, phone numbers, and locations. In this article, we will explore nine different ways to scan QR codes on Samsung Galaxy phones.

Using the Camera App

For Samsung Galaxy phones running Android 9.0 (Pie) and above, the QR code scanner is built right into the Camera app. To enable it, open the Camera app, tap on the Settings icon, and turn on the toggle next to “Scan QR codes.” Once activated, simply launch the Camera app, point it towards the QR code, and wait for a few seconds. The Camera app will decode the QR code and display the relevant information on the screen.

From Quick Tiles

Samsung also provides a QR code scanner in Quick Tiles. To use it, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, then swipe down again to show the quick tiles. Scroll through the tiles and look for the “Scan QR code” tile. If you can't find it, swipe right to the last screen of quick tiles until you see the “+ (Add)” button. Tap on it and add the “Scan QR code” tile. Once added, open the quick tiles and you will find the Scan QR code tile.

Scan QR Code From Image in Gallery

You can also scan QR codes from any image in your Gallery. Simply tap on the “Scan QR code” quick tile, then tap on the Gallery icon on the scanner screen. Select the image containing the QR code and it will be scanned.

Using Bixby Vision

Bixby Vision, a useful feature from Bixby Assistant, also provides a QR scanner to scan QR codes on Samsung Galaxy phones. Launch Bixby Vision on your phone and open the QR Scanner from the bottom area. Point the camera towards the QR code to scan it. If the QR scanner isn't available in the bottom panel, tap on the three-dot icon and enable the QR code scanner.

Using Samsung Internet

Samsung's own browser, Samsung Internet, offers a QR scanner as well. To use it, launch the Samsung Internet app, tap on the three-bar icon at the bottom, and go to Settings. On some devices, you may need to go to Useful Features and enable QR Code scanner. If you don't find it, go to Layout and menu followed by Customize menu. Touch and hold the QR code scanner button and drag it to the bottom panel. To use the scanner, tap on the Three-bar icon in Samsung Internet and press the QR code scanner button.

Using Google Lens

In addition to Bixby Vision, Samsung Galaxy phones also come with Google Lens. To use it, launch Google Assistant on your Samsung Galaxy phone, say “Ok Google” or swipe towards the center from the bottom-right or left corner of the device. After Google Assistant is activated, say “Open Google Lens” and tap on the “Search with your camera” button to scan an image or select an image from your phone.

Using Google Photos

If you have the Google Photos app installed on your Samsung Galaxy phone, you can use it to scan QR codes from images in your Gallery. Simply open the photo containing the QR code in the Google Photos app and press the Google Lens button.

Using Google Search

If you find any QR code using Google Search, you can directly scan it without taking a screenshot. Press the Google Lens icon on the QR code image and it will scan the QR code. This method works on any Android phone.

Using Third-Party Apps

If none of the above methods work for you, you can always install third-party apps from the Play Store to scan on Samsung Galaxy phones. Some popular QR code scanner apps include QR Code Scanner & Barcode, QR & Barcode Scanner, and QR Code Reader and Scanner.

While QR codes are convenient, it's important to exercise caution. Be aware that QR codes can be used in scams. Always double-check the information revealed by the QR code before proceeding, especially when it involves money or suspicious links.

So, whether you want to scan QR codes using the built-in features of your Samsung Galaxy phone or opt for third-party apps, you now have nine easy ways to scan QR codes and access hidden information effortlessly.
