5 Creative Ways to Mention Someone on Instagram Story

Instagram stories have become a popular way to share moments and connect with friends. Whether you're uploading a group photo or creating a story specifically for someone, you may want to tag or mention them. In this article, we will explore five creative ways to mention someone on your Instagram story, with or without them knowing.

Method 1: Using the Text Option

  1. Open the Instagram app and tap on the Plus icon at the top left corner. Select the Story option in the bottom bar.
  2. Choose to shoot the story with the camera or select a photo or video from your device.
  3. Before publishing the story, tap on the text option (Aa icon) at the top. Then select Mention.
  4. Type the username of the account you want to mention and select it from the suggestions.
  5. Move the @name mention/tag text anywhere you want on the screen. You can resize or rotate the @name text using two fingers.

Method 2: Using the Mention Sticker

  1. Before publishing the story, tap on the Sticker icon at the top. Select the Mention sticker from the available stickers.
  2. Type the username of the account you want to mention and select it from the suggestions.
  3. Move the sticker to your desired location on the screen. You can resize or rotate the Mention sticker using two fingers.

Method 3: Mentioning Without It Showing

If you want to mention someone in your Instagram Story without their name appearing on top, follow these steps:

  1. After adding the Mention with either text or sticker, move the mention to the extreme right or left on the screen until it is no longer visible.
  2. Their name will not appear on the screen, but they will still receive a notification as if you have mentioned them.

Method 4: Mentioning After Publishing

Instagram allows you to mention someone in your stories even after publishing them. However, their username will not be shown on top of the story itself. Here's how to do it:

  1. After publishing, tap on your story at the top left of the Instagram home page. Then tap on the More option at the bottom of the story.
  2. Select the Add mentions option from the menu. Search and select the people you want to mention, then tap Add.
  3. Although you cannot see their username on the Instagram story, they will receive a notification. This method does not work for stories shared only with your Instagram Close Friends list.

Method 5: Mentioning Without Them Knowing

If you want to mention someone without them receiving a notification, you can add their profile link to your Instagram story using the Link sticker. Here's how:

  1. Open their profile and tap on the three-dot icon in the top right corner. Select the Copy Profile URL option.
  2. Start uploading the story, but before publishing it, tap on the sticker icon and select the Link sticker.
  3. Paste the profile link you copied earlier.
  4. Customize the sticker text by adding the person's name and tap Done.
  5. Move the link sticker anywhere on the screen. You can resize and rotate it as needed.
  6. This way, you can link their account using their name, but they will not receive any mention notifications.

With these creative methods, you can mention someone on your Instagram story in various ways, whether through text or stickers, with or without letting the user know.
