2nd Gen. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air With “Kaby Lake” Taking Orders With Launch In Late May
In March, Xiaomi announced that it was upgrading their two Windows 10 laptops Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air in the 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch category. And now these two are taking orders too, with the 2nd gen. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air launching on May 25: http://www.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_625263.html
The 1st gen. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air noteboooks/laptops were unveiled on July 27 last year, but then with the outgoing 6th gen. Intel Core “Skylake” processor choices, which probably held back its sales success a little.
That and the price, because for the first time Xiaomi launched a product with a premium price too, kind of breaking with the tradition that Xiaomi was established on.
But now with the 2nd generation Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air at least one of these issues have been rectified, since the new Xiaomi Air laptops now feature the 7th gen. Intel Core “Kaby Lake” processors. In the new 12.5 Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air that means the 1 GHz – 2.6 GHz Intel Core m3-7Y30 processor, while it's the i5 and i7 processors in the larger 13.3-inch Xiaomi Air.
But the prices are still at MacBook Air level, which I find too high for the specs. Especially if we compare it to a particularly hot and brand new Intel Core m3-7Y30 powered Windows 10 laptop these days, such as the 13.5-inch 3000 x 2000 resolution Cube Thinker, that despite 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and full Wi-Fi cover, only costs $620.
