Samsung Launches New PRO Ultimate microSD And SD Memory Cards With Faster Speeds

Samsung announced their new line of UHS-I microSD cards and SD cards today, with the new Samsung PRO Ultimate.

The microSD cards will come with a capacity of 128/256/512GB, while the SD cards will have a capacity of 64/128/256/512GB of storage. Although it’s mainly microSD cards that are interesting to tablet owners, unless you’re an iPad owner.

In terms of performance these Samsung memory cards sport a read speed of 200MB/s and a write speed of 130MB/s, which puts them in the speed class of U3, V30, Class 10 and A2.

Samsung says they’ve upgraded the ECC’s Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code from a 1-kilobyte (KB) to a 2KB engine too, and that it’s durable enough to be plugged and unplugged up to 10,000 times (also known as mating cycles), which is interesting. So a card like that could last a lifetime.

As for the quality of these cards, they are rated proof from water, temperatures from -25°C to 85°C (-13°F to 185°F), X-Ray machines, magnets, drop, wearout, and shock, which gives the a 10-year warranty.

That cards are launching from both Amazon and Samsung Store, where they are also sold with a tiny original USB adapter.
