A new as of yet unofficial 10.1-inch Android 5.1 tablet from Acer by the name of Acer Iconia One 10 (B3-A10) is on its way in the US and in some other markets now that this octa-core tablet have filed with the FCC in the US as well as taking orders from a Hungarian online store already that says the tablet will begin shipping in 4-5 weeks (mid-September).
(UPDATED: Acer Iconia One 10 Becomes Available For Order)
Octa-core tablets are still very rare, and naturally we were very eager to learn about the rest of the specs too when we saw that processor, but alas, it might only have an HD screen and specs on that kind of tablet level if we are to believe the specs provided by the store listing.
Acer Iconia One 10 (B3-A10) sports a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT8151 processor and a Mali-450 GPU, a 10.1-inch IPS screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 32GB of eMMC storage, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, accelerometer, GPS, a 0.3MP front camera, a 5MP rear camera, and Android 5.1 Lollipop.
According to the Hungarian listing it has a 7 hour battery life squeezed out of a 2670 mAh battery. That’s a very small battery for a tablet, I mean that’s the kind of battery capacity normally given to 5/6-inch smartphones these days. By looking at the FCC pictures however we are seeing a 5340 mAh / 20.29 Wh battery instead, so that’s much better. Which also makes me wonder about what other specs from the Hungarian site that are incorrect.
But we’ll still have to wait for the official announcement and specs before we can judge it. It does look like it will come in a variety of colors, with at least black, white, and green being some of them from what I have seen. The textile pattern on the back of the tablet also looks a little interesting.
The Hungarian price is the equivalent of $249 USD. That’s the kind of money that buys something from Acer like the Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A20 FHD, so we’ll see what kind of specs it actually has when it launches.
