Amazon launched a new Kindle eReader today, with more storage and more features, in an eReader that is now thinner and lighter than than before with rounder edges for increased comfort. The new Kindle comes in black or white and will be released on July 7 for $79, making it the cheapest of the Kindle eReaders: https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Kindle-reader-Glare-Free-Touchscreen/
The new Kindle has a 6-inch display like all the other Kindle eReaders, and weighs just 161 grams. The new storage capacity is now 4GB, but owner also get free cloud storage for all of their Amazon content anyway, so they are unlikely to ever need any more than that.
The battery life is 4 week long while the charging time is 4 hours, through a USB cable. The Kindle eReader itself downloads books and other content through its Wi-Fi connection though.
Supported formates are Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively and HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP via conversions.
The new Kindle is also the first Kindle to feature Bluetooth audio support so that visually impaired or others can use the VoiceView screen reader to read for them.
Another new Kindle feature is Export Notes, which lets users export notes and highlights from a book to their email.
It’s also possible to personalize the home screen with the new Kindle. In addition to that, it has the hundreds of features available on all the other Kindle eReaders.
