iReader Launches Color7 With 300ppi B&W Mode and 1800mAh Battery
Chinese e-reader brand iReader has officially launched its new Color7 model featuring a 7-inch color e-ink display. The Color7 is the first 7-inch e-reader to have a color E Ink panel.
The Color7 uses E Ink's Kaleido 3 color e-paper technology. It has a resolution of 300 PPI in black and white mode and 150 PPI in color mode.
The display supports over 4,000 colors and 16 grayscale levels. iReader claims its custom color engine improves color brightness by 30% and color contrast by 40% compared to standard Kaleido 3 screens.
In terms of design, the Color7 has an asymmetrical body shape similar to the Kindle Oasis.
One side is thicker to provide a natural grip point and house physical page turn buttons. The rest of the body is just 4mm thin, making it one of the slimmest e-readers available.
Inside, the Color7 is powered by a quad-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Battery capacity is 1800mAh. The front is made of anti-glare etched glass for improved clarity.
The iReader Color7 is now available for purchase in China, priced starting at 1,659 yuan (~$233).
This makes it a relatively affordable option for people who want a color e-reader in a compact 7-inch form factor.
With its latest model, iReader aims to offer a more vibrant reading experience by bringing color e-paper technology to the mainstream 7-inch e-reader space.
The Color7 provides an alternative to Amazon's larger 10-inch Kindle Scribe for Chinese consumers.
