HP Spectre Folio – 13-Inch Leather Wrapped Windows 10 Convertible Unveiled

HP announced the newest addition to the HP Spectre family today by unveiling the brand new and sexy HP Spectre Folio, a unique looking leather covered Windows 10 convertible with a 13.3-inch screen and Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. It starts taking orders today, on October 1 from HP and Best Buy, starting at $1299.

HP Spectre Folio 13 will be released in different iterations, bit by bit. The first 3 HP Spectre Folio taking pre-orders today, are the Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution Cognac Brown versions with choices of 8th gen. Intel Core i5-8200 processor, or Core i7-8500Y, or Core i7-8500Y with 4G LTE. The HP Spectre Folio release date of these 3 are October 29.

Then in December, HP expects to be able to launch the Bordeaux Burgundy version, as well as the 4K UHD screen version of HP Spectre Folio with up to 16GB RAM.

HP Spectre Folio is a powerful and somewhat large, yet nimble and mobile Windows 10 convertible with touchscreen and active digitizer. It can be used in normal laptop mode, or the screen can be tilted forward in front of the keys yet still behind the touchpad, it can be laid flat, and it can be closed.

I imagine that the soft padded HP Spectre Folio is probably the most lap-friendly convertible, 2-in-1, or laptop to write on the lap with, since it won't be as uncomfortable in the lap as many laptops are.

As you can see by our chart, the first HP Spectre Folio versions that will be launched, differs only in processor, 4G, and battery life. Other than that, they all share the same long list of specs.

These include 4 Bang & Olufsen speakers, a front FHD camera and IR camera for secure login, with a screen that is protected by Gorilla Glass, it has a backlit full-size keyboard and HP Digital Pen, HP fast charge that will charge 50% of the battery in 30 minutes, complete dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi cover, fanless cooling, 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C port, 1x USB 3.1 Type-A port, and a audio combo jack.

The combined weight of the HP Spectre Folio is 1487 gram with the thickness being 15.2mm when closed.
