Mozilla has now officially started accelerating the development of Firefox OS for tablets, through the Firefox OS contribution program for developers.
Firefox tablets are destined for 2014, which is a little later than expected. Firefox smartphones were launched last year, through smartphone makers such as ZTE.
It was revealed in June 2013 that Mozilla was working with Hon Hai (Foxconn), the assembler of the Apple iPad, in the development and manufacturing of Firefox tablets.
Software and application developers will be given free Firefox tablets to encourage the growth and widening of the ecosystem before the first Firefox tablets are released.
And more Firefox smartphones are destined for 2014 too, in collaboration with LG, Huawei, and ZTE.
