Apple Working Towards 3nm Processors For iPads In Second Half of 2022

More new iPad news this week, as Nikkei Asia reports that industry insiders have revealed that Apple is working on using TSMC’s latest 3 nanometer processor technology in iPads for the second half of 2022.

Of course we would expect some new processors and chipsets anyway, but the significance lies in the use of the even thinner 3nm with more transistors and thus higher performance.

Of course that too is natural, but a very welcome progress is the reported potential of reducing the power consumption by 25% to 30%.

Of course, this describes the power efficiency of a chipset, and not an entire iPad. But it if all other components were to stay equal, it will reduce the overall battery consumption, and consequently increased battery life too.
