Asus kept the versatile 2-in-1 detachable design of the CM3 but upgraded key components like the processor.
The CM30 features a fast new 8-core MediaTek Kompanio 520 chip already used in some Lenovo models. This promises snappy performance for Chrome OS.
The CM30 is configurable with either 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
Buyers can choose 64GB or 128GB of onboard eMMC storage. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi only or 4G LTE cellular.
The 10.5-inch touchscreen display has a sharp 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. An integrated USI pen allows drawing and handwritten notes. The pen stores and charges inside the tablet.
Asus upgraded the cameras over the CM3, with 5MP sensors on both front and rear.
Battery life reaches up to 12 hours on a charge thanks to the 27WHr capacity. The CM30 supports modern Bluetooth 5.2 devices and fast Wi-Fi 6 networks.
Like its predecessor, the CM30 works with a detachable keyboard cover and kickstand for laptop-style use. The kickstand lets users stand the tablet in portrait or landscape orientation.
The new Chromebook tablet weighs just 0.61kg with the keyboard attached. Asus constructed the body from lightweight recycled aluminum.
Asus aims the CM30 at buyers wanting a versatile Chrome OS device for productivity. Its main competitor is Lenovo's 11-inch Chromebook Duet 3. The Duet 3 has a larger screen but uses a Qualcomm processor.
Asus designed the CM30 as an upgraded version of the popular CM3 detachable. The 2-in-1 design, keyboard, pen input and 12-hour battery life make it ideal for work and creativity.
Asus focused on performance upgrades like the new MediaTek processor. The CM30 Chromebook tablet replaces the CM3 as Asus's premium mobile Chrome OS option starting in 2024.
