Xiaomi Mi Pad Unveiled With Tegra K1 Processor

Xiaomi finally unveiled their first ever tablet computer today, with the announcement of Xiaomi Mi Pad. Being very powerful and inexpensive, it looks like this was a tablet worth waiting for:
It’s possible to buy Xiaomi Mi Pad internationally from Everbuying tablet shop.

Let’s begin with the Xiaomi Mi Pad specs that we have all been waiting for. This is a 7.9-inch Android 4.4 tablet, so with that screen size it’s competing in the 8-inch category. The greatest novelty is the Xiaomi Mi Pad being the first tablet to use the brand new and powerful NVIDIA Tegra K1 2.2GHz ARM Cortex-A15 processor with 4+1 cores and a 192-core NVIDIA CUDA Kepler graphics processor, with full support for OpenGL 4.4, OpenGL ES 3.1, so that’s very exciting stuff.

And it’s got good working memory too, with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Storage options are either 16GB or 64GB, which is a great option, both of which have 128GB microSD expansion.

The 7.9-inch IPS screen have a 2048 x 1536 resolution, giving it a ppi of 326, while the aspect ratio is 4:3. The screen is a Corning Gorilla Glass 3rd generation screen, and it has 178 degree viewing angles.

The battery is a large 6700mAh lithium-ion polymer one, so battery life should be around 10-11 hours on average, with 50 day stand-by time. The battery is compatible with 5V 2A for a 4.5 hour charge, and 9V 1.2A for a 3.5 hour rapid charge.

It has a very good 5MP front camera with F2.0 aperture, and a 8MP Sony rear camera. So quality all the way.
The front speakers have a high volume that goes up to 108dB, so now you can even listen to music in the tunnel on a subway.

The first edition of Xiaomi Mi Pad is Wi-Fi only. And the dual antenna Wi-Fi have 802.11/b/g/n/ac support, with 2×2 dual band network support, Wi-Fi direct, Wi-Fi display, and MIMO technology, giving it a transfer rate up to 876Mbps. And naturally there’s Bluetooth 4.0.

Mi Pad is put in a case made of seismic magnesium alloy structure, with the benefit of making it solid and distributing heat effectively. It is 8.5mm thick, and 20.2 cm high, 13.5 cm wide, and weighs 360 gram.

Xiaomi have dressed the Mi Pad tablet up with their MIUI skin over the Android 4.4 OS, which adds many features and apps, in addition to access to Xiaomi’s own ecosystem of media. This is the same MIUI used on over 50 million Xiaomi smartphones, and include everything from office apps, to reading apps, to photo galleries and games.

Other features include gyroscope, GPS, light sensor, proximity sensor, and e-compass. And there are lots of color options, including: black, white, and light versions of pink, yellow, blue, and green.

The first round of sales/release will take place some time in June in China. The price for the 16GB model Xiaomi Mi Pad is CN¥1,499/$240, and CN¥1,699/$270 for the 64GB model.

In my opinion this is a very good tablet in the 8-inch category. The price makes it very attractive, and with the specs it has on board, it’s only the Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 8.4 that really competes against Xiaomi Mi Pad in this category, among the tablets that are available for sale today.
