New Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T713 & SM-T813) 3rd Generation

Two new editions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 came to the market in May, but without Samsung announcing them or giving them much different names other than the SM-T713 and SM-T813 model numbers in most markets. Naturally people became confused by this, so here is the complete history of the New Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T713 & SM-T813) tablets:

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 – 1st edition (2015-2016 model)
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 was launched on July 20, 2015, as the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The Tab S2 got 9.7-inch (SM-T810) and 8.0-inch (SM-T710) screens with Super AMOLED displays, an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5433 processor and Mali-T760 graphics processor, and were launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop. These were launched for $499 and $399 respectively.

Then starting on May 1, 2016, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 hit the market. The model numbers of these, as Wi-Fi only version are SM-T813 for the 9.7-inch model and SM-T713 for the 8.0-inch model. Apart from changing the model number, Samsung kept the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 model name in most markets, although in about 30 countries as of July, the new model is also called Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 VE, with VE being a Samsung abbreviation for Value Edition.

Mostly everything about the New Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablets were the same, but there were still some significant changes.
1. The processor was changed to a more powerful octa-core processor with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (aka 620) processor with the powerful Qualcomm Adreno 510 graphics processor alongside it.
2. It was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed. (UPDATE: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 have since been updated to Android 7.0).
3. And it even got a price cut of $100.

The end result was that the New Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 with the new processor and GPU was 27% more powerful on average, got a 34% longer battery life, the latest Android 6.0 OS running on it, and all for a lower price than before.

All this while Samsung kept all the best bits from the original models, meaning that these are still the world’s thinnest tablets at a mere 5.6 mm in thickness, they are still the world’s lightest in the 9.7-inch and 8.0-inch tablet category, and they have the same highest rated 2048 x 1536 resolution Super AMOLED display on the market, 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage with 128GB microSD card support, stereo speakers, a 2.1MP front camera and 8MP rear camera, complete Wi-Fi cover with all dual-band (2.4 GHZ and 5 GHz) 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac bands supported, along with Bluetooth 4.1, and now an even better battery life, with a long 14 hour battery life on the 8-inch model, and a 12 hour battery life on the 9.7-inch model.

As a top-end Samsung tablet is has a long list of features included, from multi-window for running 2 apps at once, to 4K video support at 30fps, to things like Side Sync which even lets you answer calls on your tablet if you pair it with your phone.

The sensors are accelerometer, fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, compass, hall sensor, RGB sensor, GPS, and GLONASS. Color options on the New Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 are black, white, and gold.
