Earl is a outdoor tablet computer aiming to go into production in July, pending sucessful crowdfunding.

This tablet is a Android 4.1 device with a flexible 6″ E-ink screen with a 1024×768 resolution.
It's got a waterproof case with solar panel, a DualLite 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, 1GB ram, 16GB memory + microSD, b/g/n Wi-Fi b/g/n, 4.0 Bluetooth, ANT+, NFC, FRS/GMRS/MURS, GPS and GLONASS, and a accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer.

But to make it a proper outdoor tablet, it's got other sensors that tablets usually don't have. Such as a thermometer, barometer, hygrometer, and a anemometer (micro hot-wire) to measure wind speed, in addition to AM/FM/SW/LW radio and an IR blaster even.

Battery life is expected to last 20+ hours. This is possible in part because of the energy frugal display the Earl tablet is fitted with.
