iPad Air 2 To Feature Touch ID Based On Image Leaks

Judging by the newest purported images of the upcoming iPad Air 2, it looks like it might feature a Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

And same applies to the 3rd generation iPad mini as well, according to images in the hands of technology leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer.

The inclusion of a fingerprint reader have been expected ever since this technology started to roll-out on smartphones after the iPad Air was launched, and on tablets it can already be found on top-end tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab S.

It is also rumored that Apple’s fingerprint reader have been through an upgrade in both hardware and software that will make it more reliable and purposeful this time around.

The iPad Air 2 is also expected to be powered by a new 1.7GHz A8 processor. This may not sound like much, but given the architecture of the chip, it will do very well in benchmark tests compared to other high-end tablet processors.

Launch date for the new iPad’s is still a while away unfortunately, with an unveiling expected in October before the release in November.
