While we await the next large gaming tablets that will replace the Razer Edge, there’s a new gaming laptop from the ROG division of Asus now hitting the market, with the new Asus ROG Strix GL503 (VD-DB74) now taking pre-orders for $1299: https://www.amazon.com/STRIX-GL503VD-DB74
Not only is that with a Intel Core i7 processor, but the 2.8 GHz – 3.8 GHz 7700HQ processor, and of course there’s quite a bit of Nividia in this beast too, as it’s also powered by a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5 VRAM GPU, along with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Though the two SO-DIMM socket suports upgrades to 32GB RAM.
It has a hybrid storage with 256GB SSD storage and 1TB HDD storage. The 15.6-inch screen has 1920 x 1080 resolution, with improved integrated camera and mic for streaming or multiplayer game play.
The design has become much softer and rounder too even though it has been able to keep the main radical design pieces of Asus ROG and the Strix series.
Other highlights of this Window 10 gaming laptop are the super-multi DVD, USB C port, 2x USB 3.0 ports, USB 2.0 port, RJ45 LAN jack, HDMI port, and naturally full Wi-Fi cover.
An interesting and useful feature is also the GameFirst III tweak that Asus built to optimize the net traffic for faster gaming. This can be controlled through the ROG Gaming Center, where the command panel also controls anything from hotkeys and the colors of the backlit keys, to control of in-game commands.
