Asus and Intel jointly launched the new Asus Fonepad 7 (FE7530CXG) in China on August 26, with a phone calling tablet that is very similar to the other upcoming Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CG), both of which run 64-bit Intel Moorefield processors.
But whereas Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) is powered by the Intel Atom Z3560 processor, the new Asus Fonepad 7 (FE7530CXG) is powered by the Intel Atom Z3530 processor at 1.33GHz.
As a phone calling tablet it has the capacity for up to 30 hours of 3G talk, or 11.5 hours of mixed use from the 15Wh battery when tested with 720P video playback, with the display brightness set to 100nit, with open WLAN/3G and being signed in to receive e-mail updates. So that’s a good battery life.
Other specs on this 7-inch Android 4.4 tablet includes a 1280 x 800 resolution IPS display with 10-finger touch support, and 1GB DDR3 RAM, as well as 8GB of storage memory with the typical Asus package of 5GB free cloud storage.
The wireless network band supports: HSPA + UL: 5.76 Mbps / DL: 42 Mbps. 2G: EDGE / GSM: 850/900/1800/1900. 3G: WCDMA: 850/900/1900/2100. And the Wi-Fi supports 802.11 b/g/n, as well as having Bluetooth 4.0 and Miracast support.
The cameras on the Asus Fonepad 7 (FE7530CXG) are a 0.3MP camera on the front, and a 5MP camera on the back (only 720p video recording support), with stereo speakers on the front of the tablet, facing the user.
Ports include 2-in-1 audio combo jack, a micro-USB, a microSD slot with support for up to 64GB cards, and of course a micro-SIM card tray for that cellular connectivity.
The sensors are g-sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor, e-compass, hall sensor, GPS, AGPS, and GLONASS.
Color options for the tablet are black, white, red and silver. As for dimensions it weighs 299 gram, and measures 9.83 mm thick, which is a pretty ordinary thickness for the cheaper 7-inch tablets these days.
In addition to the Android 4.4 KitKat it is dressed up with Aus ZenUI, which gives you additional features and apps. And you can multitask with it, at least as much as you can multitask through two windows on a 7-inch tablet.
The Asus Fonepad 7 (FE7530CXG) will start taking orders on September 1 in China. We’ll then have to wait and see if this particular Fonepad model will be brought outside of Asia later on.
