Aspire Switch 12 – Acer’s 12.5-Inch Windows 8.1 Notebook

Three weeks after the Aspire Switch 12 first showed up in online stores, Acer finally got around to announcing the computer.

Acer calls the Aspire Switch 12 a 5-mode device. I don’t see that at all. I see a one-in-one device here, but nice try Acer.

(UPDATE: Acer Aspire Switch 12 release date is March 13, 2015 in US and Canada)

What it is otherwise though, is a 12.5-inch small Windows 8.1 computer with detachable keyboard, where the 10-point touch screen (with Zero Air Gap) have Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, and can be used with an optional “Acer Active Pen1.”

One of the main reasons people show some interest in this computer, is because of the Intel Core M processor, in this case a M-5Y10a 800 MHz dual-core processor.

There are two storage options says Acer, either 30GB or 128GB. The price begins at $649 in Europe for the 30GB model, and it is on sale in Europe where there’s even an unannounced 60GB model available, an it’s listed with a preliminary release date of December 7 at the moment. The price in Sweden for the 60GB model is 6,290 Swedish Krona (SEK).

It has 4GB DDR3 RAM, an 8 hour battery life. MIMO 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a USB 3.0 port. And it weighs 1.460 gram. In comparison, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 weighs 800 gram.
